Condition: Given the age of the pendant, the condition generally is good. The pendant clearly has substantial age-related soiling. All but one of the "stones" are present and in good condition. In fact, these "stones" seem to be different types of glass. It is interesting to note that there is a small etched mark in the center of the guardian's forehead, but it seems to have been carefully and intentionally made. There is a small asymmetry of the left and right sides. The right side seems to have a lateral bezel that is missing a "stone." However, this bezel is missing from the left side and there is no indication that it was ever there. The pendant is wearable because a chain is present, but the chain is a later addition. It might be usable if itS luster could be dulled to make it conform to the tones of the pendant.

We are providing information about this wonderful pendant, but we are not experts so please come to your own conclusions.
It is our understanding that this pendant is a wrathful guardian deity, Dharmapala, that protects the Buddhist dharma/teachings in the Mahayana and Tantric traditions. Note the exposed white fangs and blood-red eyes. This type of guardian deity manifests in blue, black and red forms. It always has a fierce expression and menacing fangs that protrude. Our guess is that it dates from about 1930 - 1950, but please come to your own conclusions. Likely it is from Nepal, or perhaps from Tibet.
Please note that the blue color as seen in the listing's photographs is not quite accurate. The true color is a deep and matte ultramarine- - -rather than the more "sky blue" shown in the listing.
The dimensions are: 2 1/2 inches high and 3 1/8 inches wide. The dangle is 1 inch long. The chain is about 8 inches long.
